2014 will see tremendous change in the practice of psychotherapy in Ontario. The Transitional Council of the College of Registered Psychotherapists (CRPO) is currently in the process of developing regulations and procedures for registering anyone who proposes to practice psychotherapy in the province. Provisions for existing practitioners will be made via a "grandparenting" system to assess and certify their education and experience and ensure they meet qualification standards.
Processes and procedures with the CRPO continue to evolve. For the most up-to-date information, anyone with an interest in psychotherapy in Ontario is urged to consult the College website at www.crpo.ca .
Preregistration for the grandparenting system has now begun, and Adler encourages existing practitioners to register immediately to begin the qualification process.
