Students, staff, and faculty are required to follow all published school policies and procedures. Failure to do so can result in an investigation and potential consequences and sanctions.
Policy Review Note
ADLER reviews our policies on a regular basis. Changes are made prior to September or January for the students entering the program in those months. Students must meet the degree requirements that were published at the start of their degree program, with some exceptions. Policy updates which are required to comply with either the regulatory colleges or the Province of Ontario, or law in Ontario and Canada, apply to all students, regardless of the timing of their entry into the program. This also applies to new policies implemented by the school related to: new technology, new resources available at the school, and program or delivery changes related to external factors (for example, public health directives). These changes are announced through the online learning platform ADLearn and are included in the Academic Calendar for that year.
Responsibility for Knowledge of Policies
Students and faculty are responsible for familiarizing themselves with all administrative and academic policies, including course prerequisites and graduation requirements, and adhering to them. By registering for courses or signing a Registration Agreement, newly admitted students affirm that they have been provided access to the current Academic Calendar and that they agree to abide by the policies, procedures, and guidelines contained therein. Upon signing each subsequent Registration Agreement, students are asked to indicate their continuing agreement to abide by current policies and procedures. ADLER reserves the right to change, without notice, curricula, courses, policies, and procedures and to apply changes to all enrolled students. Students will be notified of any changes through ADLearn (the school’s e-learning platform), to which all students have access. All students are expected to maintain communication with the School to apprise themselves of current policies and regulations.
Enforcement of Policy
At ADLER, students, faculty, and staff have the right to a fair process to resolve disputes, conflicts, and breaches of policy.
Students, faculty, and staff have the right to:
- Make a complaint about any member of the ADLER community they believe has breached ADLER policy and have that complaint be respectfully addressed in a timely and impartial manner.
- Have any complaint made against them be investigated in a timely and impartial manner.
It is the policy of ADLER to assume that complaints are made in good faith until there is evidence to the contrary. The school will take allegations of abuse and harassment seriously, with the understanding that there is a significant burden carried by individuals who report abuse and harassment and a significant burden on respondents accused of abuse and harassment.
Complaints that are made for vexatious or malicious reasons will be investigated fully and consequences can include sanctions and dismissal.
