Applying as a Student-at-Large

If you require additional coursework to complete your registration with the College of Psychologists of Ontario (CPBAO) or the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), you are eligible to apply to Adler as a student-at-large. Please review the information below carefully before applying.

*Important note: Adler cannot confirm whether coursework will meet the requirements of the regulatory bodies. It is up to the CPBAO/CRPO to determine what additional training an applicant requires. Application Requirements and Form

  1. $100 CAD application fee
  2. Transcripts for masters and/or doctoral-level degree(s) in clinical psychology (transcripts must be issued directly from the granting institution; for international degrees, a WES/CES report is required) – transcripts and/or WES/CES reports should be sent to admissions@adler.ca
  3. Cover letter indicating the courses the applicant requires
  4. Letter from relevant regulatory body (College of Psychologists of Ontario or College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario)
  5. Resume

College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario (CPBAO)

Steps to apply

Step one: submit your registration application to the CPBAO. If they determine that your graduate training was substantially equivalent, but that you are missing one or more courses to register, they will send you a letter indicating what subject(s) you are missing.

Step two: identify the subject(s) you require and submit the corresponding course outline(s) as part of your Training Plan. (Scroll down for a full list of SAL courses offered, as well as links to the course outlines you can submit to the CPBAO.)

Step three: after the CPBAO approves your Training Plan, you can submit your SAL application to Adler (see application requirements and link to the form above)

Location: All courses are offered in-person at the Adler school in downtown Toronto, 890 Yonge street on the 9th floor.

Schedule: Classes are offered on weekends, Saturdays/Sundays, all day from 9-5pm. Two-credit courses are typically scheduled over four days throughout the trimester, and three-credit courses are typically scheduled over five days throughout the trimester. The course schedule will be made available two months before the start of the trimester. The course dates on the course outlines are for the previous iteration of the course, not the upcoming course dates.

Course attendance is mandatory.

Steps to Apply

Step one: submit your registration application to the CRPO. If you require additional coursework to register, the CRPO will send you a letter indicating what course(s) you require. They will specify the course code(s).

Step two: submit your SAL application to Adler (scroll up to section “Application Requirements and Form”). You will include your CRPO letter in your application.

SAL courses

Location: The majority of student-at-large courses are offered in-person* at the Adler school in downtown Toronto, 890 Yonge street on the 9th floor.

Schedule: Classes are offered on weekends, Saturdays/Sundays, all day from 9-5pm. Two-credit courses are typically scheduled over four days throughout the trimester, and three-credit courses are typically scheduled over five days throughout the trimester. The course schedule will be made available two months before the start of the trimester.

*The exception to this is the PSY-534 Psychotherapeutic Assessment course. This is the only SAL course that is offered over zoom videoconference. It is only offered during the Fall (September-December) trimester. It is typically scheduled once a week over twelve weeks.
