Steps to apply
Note: many of these steps can be done in any order, this is just a general overview!
Step 1: Review the admissions requirements and program information
Before applying to the program, we recommend reviewing the detailed admissions requirements for the MPsy program carefully. If you haven’t already, it’s a good idea to learn more about the program on our website here.
If your bachelor’s degree is not a 4-year honours program in psychology, you may require additional bridging courses if admitted to the program. Learn more about the bridging program here.
Step 2: Submit a declare interest form
If you’re interested in the program, submit your declaration of interest here.
Step 3: Sign up for an information session
We run regular information sessions about our degree programs, where we talk about the program, admissions process, and we’re often joined by a current student in the program, who will share more information about their experience. There will also be a question and answer period at the end. Information sessions are held over zoom videoconference. Our time zone is Eastern Time.
Sign up for an information session here!
Step 4: Book a phone call with an advisor
If you have additional questions regarding your specific situation, you can book a phone call here! You can also email questions to info@adler.ca
Step 5: Choose your program stream
Before applying, you must choose a program stream to apply to. Both program streams have the same admissions requirements and are equally competitive. You cannot change your program stream after being admitted to the program. Your program stream determines your future registration options, so choose your stream carefully. More information about the differences between the streams is available here.
Step 6: Book your Casper 2 assessment
If you’ve decided the program is right for you, the first thing to do is sign up for the Casper 2 assessment. You can sign up here. Before you take the assessment, we recommend completing a practice test here.
More information about the Casper and other admissions requirements is available here.
Two weeks after your test date, your results will be sent directly from Acuity Insights to Adler.
Step 7: Request your transcripts
It’s good to request your transcripts early. Your transcripts must be sent directly from your institution to admissions@adler.ca. If you are not finished your undergraduate program, we still need your transcripts with your program information to date. If you are admitted to Adler’s MPsy before you complete your undergraduate program, your admission will be conditional upon completion of your undergraduate program.
If your degree is international, your credentials must be evaluated by the World Education Services (WES) or Comparative Education Services (CES). We recommend beginning this process early, as it can take several weeks.
Step 8: Secure your references
You must have three, arm’s-length referees for your application. Your references do not need to provide letters. You will provide their contact information on your application form, and we will reach out to them directly by email to complete a standardized form.
More information about references is available here.
Step 9: Write your statement of intent and CV/resume
You will upload both documents to your application form. Please review the SOI requirements carefully before writing. More information about the statement of intent and CV/resume is available here.
Step 10: Submit your application form
Submit a declare interest form to be taken to the application page. There is an $85 CAD application fee due upon submitting the application form.
To submit the form, you must have: chosen your program stream, have a Casper test date, a list of your previous degrees and institutions, contact information for your three references, your statement of intent, and your CV.
Within two business days of submitting your application, your references will be contacted by email with the reference form to complete. We recommend following up with your references to ensure that they received and completed the form.
We encourage you to reach out to admissions@adler.ca to check in on the status of your application at any time throughout the admissions process.
Once all of your documentation has been received, you will get an email from the admissions office confirming that your application is complete.
Step 11: Interview
The admissions committee will review all completed applications in winter. If you are invited for an interview, the admissions committee will reach out to you directly to schedule an interview in early 2026. The interview is over zoom videoconference with two members of the admissions committee.
Step 12: Decision letter
All applicants will receive a decision letter in March 2026. Your letter will indicate whether you were accepted to the program, and whether you have any conditions to your acceptance, such as completion of your undergraduate program and/or bridging requirements. If accepted to the program, your letter will indicate your program start date (Fall or Winter) and schedule (weekdays/weekends, for the Clinical Psychology stream). If you are waitlisted for the program, this will be indicated in your offer letter. The waitlist will remain open until the start date of the program.
If you are accepted to the program, you will have until April 2026 to accept your spot. To accept your spot in the program, you must complete the acceptance form and pay a $200 deposit toward your first trimester fees.
